Computer Skills

I was introduced to computers in college using punch cards to run FORTRAN programs.  I used my programmable calculator to check my computer programs.  I developed a FORTRAN subroutine to graph mathematical equations on a line printer.   In 1979, I had my first experience with direct keyboard access and storage on an 8" floppy disk.

I was one of the first engineering officers in the Air Force to have a stand-alone PC (1985).  It was a Wang PC with 64K ram and a 20MB hard drive.  I used a PC word processing program and Microsoft Multiplan to manage energy programs at multiple locations.

I am excited about the capabilities of modern application software.  Considering I used a slide rule in college in 1970, computing and calculating accurately has become easy.

It is easy to find shortfalls with of-the-shelf applications software, but I prefer to explore and maximize use of existing features.  The main reason I use spread sheet software for program management is that almost everyone has it.  Also notable is its portability into other applications.

Software Applications

  • Use Microsoft, Corel and/or Lotus office software (word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics) applications to analyze, document, report, present and graphically represent management information in support of business decisions.

  • Use local area network, internet software and MS Windows applications (XPP, ME, 2000, NT, 98, 95 or 3.2) to provide, access and manipulate data and/or systems, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

  • Use Microsoft FrontPage and Microsoft Expression Web (Built this website)

  • Use MS Project and many other professional applications software

  • Familiar with Microsoft Access and other database management programs

  • Functional with Bentley ProjectWise/MicroStation and familiar with DataCAD 9, less familiarity with AutoCAD

I offer

  • Extensive experience in developing spreadsheet applications including dashboards

  • Experience in realizing potential of people and software applications in operations management
